CRATEKEEPER — PRIVACY POLICY

YOUR_COLLECTION

Records you catalogue — titles, artists, cover photos, notes, conditions — are stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. This data is private to you: we have no server that stores your collection, no account system, and no way to see what's in your crate. Deleting the app and your iCloud data removes it entirely. Backups you export are files you own and control.

AI_COVER_RECOGNITION (OPTIONAL_PURCHASE)

If you buy AI Identify and tap Identify on a photo, that single photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our recognition service, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to name the artist and album. The photo is used only to answer that one request. We do not retain the image after processing, associate it with your identity or your collection, or use it for analytics or AI model training. The AI provider processes it under its commercial API terms, which prohibit using inputs to train AI models. The provider may temporarily retain API request data for security and abuse prevention in accordance with their published privacy documentation.

The request carries no identity — only a random per-install ID used solely to enforce fair-use rate limits. This ID is not linked to you or your collection, and we retain it only as long as needed to enforce those limits.

The free identification mode reads text from covers entirely on your device using Apple's built-in text recognition. Nothing is transmitted anywhere.

DISCOGS

Searching the record database sends your search text to Discogs, subject to their privacy policy. Searches are not linked to your identity. If you optionally connect your own Discogs account, authentication happens on Discogs' site and your access token is stored securely in Apple's Keychain on your device. We never see your Discogs password.

YOUTUBE

The listen feature embeds YouTube's mobile site in the app. While using it, YouTube/Google may set cookies and collect data per the Google Privacy Policy, the same as visiting YouTube in a browser.

PURCHASES

The AI Identify purchase is processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details and no personal information about you from Apple.

WHAT_WE_DONT_DO

No analytics or telemetry. No advertising or ad identifiers. No selling or sharing of data. No accounts. No tracking across apps or websites.

YOUR_RIGHTS

Because we run no accounts and hold no personal data about you, your collection is entirely under your control: deleting the app and your iCloud data removes everything. If you live in the EU, UK, or another region with data protection rights (such as access, correction, or deletion), you may contact us using the email below.

CHILDREN

Cratekeeper is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

DEVICE_PERMISSIONS

Cratekeeper requests access to your camera and photo library only when you choose to photograph or select album artwork. These permissions are optional and can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.

CHANGES

If this policy changes, the update will be posted at this address with a new date above. Material changes will be noted in App Store release notes.
